This is a short but insightful article from Forbes magazine on why as a society we really need to spend more resources on proactive medicine. About 80% of our healthcare dollars go to those who are already seriously ill. It would seem there would be a better way.
Members of Access MD practice preventive medicine before they become seriously ill. They know that if they invest in their own good health upfront then they receive the benefits of this investment, year in and year out. Studies show that those who are members of concierge practices have fewer hospital stays and less ER visits, for the obvious reasons. Forbes is only stating what you already know.
We all know that walking is a great way to keep that heart healthy and that body in shape. It’s great to see the American Heart Association sponsor events which help people get excited about staying in shape.
Two walks are scheduled for September, and both sponsored by the American Heart Association. They are free and open to the public. One is scheduled for September 13, and the other for September 17.
