The American Academy of Private Physicians just posted an interesting article on how concierge medicine works and why it is proving to be quite valuable to consumers who work with a concierge practice like Access MD.

We all know how important exercise is to staying in shape. Even a 30-minute daily walk has a tremendous effect on our overall health. That is why we challenge those we communicate with to get some exercise every day.
Weather in September is still hot here in Mobile, but cooler weather is right around the corner, and that cooler weather offers a chance to build new exercise regimens without the brutal summer heat.
WebMD printed a short article here with ten exercise tips for the fall months. A few tips to mention from the list: One, take advantage of the weather – being outside for longer periods of time is easier. Two, remember that new habits take at least 30 days to form.
When you make a commitment for more exercise for the fall, plan on at least 30 days to see it become a regular habit for you and hopefully those around you.
Forbes does a good job of having a perspective that is logical and often neglected. Here is an article on why everyone should have a concierge doctor, and why other professionals can be reached on the phone and doctors cannot be. Unless of course, you work with Access MD or another concierge practice……
This is a short but insightful article from Forbes magazine on why as a society we really need to spend more resources on proactive medicine. About 80% of our healthcare dollars go to those who are already seriously ill. It would seem there would be a better way.
Members of Access MD practice preventive medicine before they become seriously ill. They know that if they invest in their own good health upfront then they receive the benefits of this investment, year in and year out. Studies show that those who are members of concierge practices have fewer hospital stays and less ER visits, for the obvious reasons. Forbes is only stating what you already know.
We all know that walking is a great way to keep that heart healthy and that body in shape. It’s great to see the American Heart Association sponsor events which help people get excited about staying in shape.
Two walks are scheduled for September, and both sponsored by the American Heart Association. They are free and open to the public. One is scheduled for September 13, and the other for September 17.

Access MD is proud to help sponsor Camp-Rap-A-Hope, which is a local summer camp for children who have had cancer. Dr Diana Hashimi’s relationship with the camp goes back many years.
This link goes to the Local15 website to see their news story on the great service Camp Rap-A-Hope offers. As you probably know, Camp Rap-A-Hope has been a mainstay in the Mobile community for quite some time. It has a simple mission: to help kids who have cancer have a good experience that they might not normally have.
Your Access MD membership helps support the great things this camp is doing for these children and heir families.
Access MD Concierge Medicine co-sponsored the the “Go Red for Women” Luncheon for the American Heart Association. This event was held in February and about 300 people attended.
The luncheon is an integral part of the American heart Association annual program, as you can tell by the number of people in attendance.
