  • Just a Reminder – Access MD Does Not Accept Medicare Advantage or Medicare Complete

    Posted on November 26, 2015

AARP and other companies have been marketing Medicare “Advantage” and “Complete” programs, touting the benefits of such insurance programs and how “valuable” they have become to senior citizens. These programs are not the same as “Original” Medicare so beware of the sales pitches.

The marketing companies don’t bother to mention the salesmen (and pharmacies) make a commission from each person they sign-up. Additionally, for many reasons, Access MD does not accept Medicare Advantage/Complete. So before signing up with any insurance company for one of these programs, please do your homework on the impact they may have on your healthcare.

  • Communicating With Access MD Through FitBit

    Posted on November 6, 2015

Recently we started working with some of our patients based in part on the information they are sending us through a Fitbit device.

As you may already know, Fitbit is a small wearable monitor (similar to a wrist watch) that can keep you informed as to the number of steps you take in any given day, the hours you sleep, heart rate and other information, which indicates how you are doing with some lifestyle choices. It is truly a remarkable product if you like technology based information and links well with iPhone devices.

By having access to this information we can better gauge the exercise and health situation of Access MD patients who choose to participate. Fitbit is not a panacea, but is another tool that allows us to stay in touch with you so you can stay healthier and lead a fuller life.

Please feel free to connect with me through Fitbit if you are an Access MD patient.  We joined in October, and are learning new features every week. Please share your tips if you have any, we think this will be a fun way to keep in touch over the holidays and in 2016.
